New to Dreamwidth and Ready to Tackle GetYourWordsOut

I feel like I'm shouting in the dark a bit since I'm new to this forum. I found Get Your Words Out through 4theWords (an RPG writing adventure!), and I couldn't step away from the challenge. I chose the Master level...to write for 350 days this year. Since I plan to keep my writing streak in 4theWords going (gotta get those beautiful wings!), this aligns perfectly!

I'm a full-time writer with over 13 years in the publishing industry. I've been telling stories since the first grade and spending even more time trying to figure out why I liked some books more than others.

I write under multiple pennames because I enjoy the anonymity of a hidden identity, though it's not hard to find out which books are what since they're all written under the Indie Outlaw Books publishing imprint.

Self-publishing was a godsend when my life was falling apart. I got some brutal head injuries in my military career that make deadlines and pressure turn into debilitating and memory-erasing migraines. So, as a self-published author, I can take my time and get it done the way it needs to be without putting myself in the hospital.

I write every day now.

I keep everything in my life up-to-date in my bullet journal and send myself videos and audio messages just in case, so I can put my brain back on track after a migraine.

My daily writing habit is tracked meticulously and I use a poster board frame with sticky notes to keep all my writing, marketing, and health goals and tasks in front of me. When I have a really bad migraine and lose days (or even months) of my memories, it helps to see the next sticky note in line and pick up where I left off.

I look forward to seeing what the year brings! Thankful to be part of Get Your Words Out this year!

comments
